Security Group : You can associate security descriptors with it.

Distribution Group : It use an e-mail distribution lists. Security descriptors can't be associated with them. Distribution group is defined in domains using Active Directory Users and computers.

You can track group accounts as with users account using unequalled SIDs. This mean that a group account can not be deleted and recreated. If you create a new group you will have a new SID and all the permissions and advantages of the old group would be lost.

7 Performance Log users : Counters can be managed and viewed by them. They can also manage performance logging.

8 Performance Monitor Users : Performance counters and performance log can be viewed by its members.

9 Power Users : This feature has been changed in Windows 7. Though in earlier version, this group is used to grant additional advantages but in Windows 7, this is being maintained only for compatibility with legacy applications.

10 Remote Desktop Users : Using terminal services and remote desktop, the members can log on to the workstation.

11 Replicator : The replication of files for the local machines can be managed by it's members.

Microsoft has put the finishing touches to Windows 7's XP Mode.

The feature offers a virtual version of Windows XP that's designed to help small businesses run legacy applications even after they've upgraded to Microsoft's new operating system. Applications can be started from a Windows XP desktop or directly from the Windows 7 Start menu or taskbar.

Microsoft says XP Mode has now reached Release to Manufacturing (RTM) status, and will be ready for launch alongside the full operating system on 22 October. PC manufacturers will also be free to install XP Mode on systems before they're shipped.
XP Mode has sparked some controversy, because of its reliance on virtualisation technology within the processor. It will only run on CPUs with either Intel's Virtualization Technology or AMD-V, potentially forcing some businesses to upgrade their hardware if they wish to take advantage of XP Mode.

Consumers will also have to pay extra if they want to get their hands on Windows 7 XP Mode, as it will only work with the Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Windows 7.

A lot of people, including myself, are eagerly waiting Oct. 22, the day Microsoft released its new operating system, Windows 7. As the manufacturer, Microsoft is obviously the most affected, but not the only ones who have an interest in seeing that it is launching a successful product.

Based on the last of their earnings, operating systems are very important to Microsoft (MSFT - news - people). Reports indicate that the client systems, which represent all the different PC operating systems, representing approximately 25% of Microsoft's revenue, but about 54% of their income. Microsoft notes that "revenue from Windows operating systems declined reflecting the weakness of the PC market, especially on computers sold to businesses, and a decrease in the mix of premium OEM.

What Microsoft is not disputed is the general misperception of the Windows Vista operating system on the market and the impact it may have had on their finances. Many companies have opted to skip Vista and have been holding on Windows XP as the standard in anticipation of Windows 7 as a viable alternative.

The weak economy has obviously been an important factor both in consumer and business to delay the replacement of aging equipment. The desire of these same groups to ensure that Vista makes the decision to delay a little easier.

Computer manufacturers have Windows 7 and potentially an economic rebound to pull them out of the doldrums. If consumers and businesses, as Windows 7, which should result in an increase in PC sales as people replace older equipment, in addition to updating the operating systems.
