Regardless of the same style used in Windows 7 icons, there are many new icons included with Windows 7 that were not there in the older systems.

A company at icons-windows7.com has taken the challenge to extract and archive many Windows 7 icons from the many applications, tools, and DLLs found in Windows 7 and publish them online. Now, you can download Windows 7 icons to ensure your software looks up to date by matching their style against the style used in Windows 7 icons.

In order to create the complete collection Windows 7 icons, proprietary software was used to scan all executable files and DLLs found in Windows 7 in order to locate and extract all available Windows 7 icons. After that, the icons were checked for duplicates, with repeating Windows 7 icons removed, and only one copy of each icon left. The remaining Windows 7 icons were stored in a set of 430 Windows 7 icons, which is now made available to everyone for free download.

To ensure compatibility of your applications, you can download Windows 7 icons and check them out. Tired of all that difficulties in supporting multiple memory-hungry applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Dreamweaver? Or are you sick of your Pentium Core 2 Duo computer running at the speeds of a 486 desktop? If you are facing any of the abovementioned problems, read on to learn more about techniques to speed up computer processing speeds. You will soon be able to do more with your computer and achieve greater productivity in any computer-related task you do.

Hardware and software considerations play an important role in speeding up your computer.

In terms of hardware, it would be highly recommended for computer users to purchase additional memory modules for their computer. RAM or random access memory is a computer hardware that provides a computer with the ability to support complex and comprehensive applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro. Failure to install sufficient RAM for your computer will result in it not being able to be utilized to the fullest potential as you would find it difficult to support the running of multiple applications to satisfy your work requirements. Computer applications all require a certain amount of memory space to function smoothly. This includes your computer’s operating systems such as Windows XP and Windows Vista. RAM is cheap and relatively easy to install, requiring a mere set up time of about 10 to 15 minutes. If your computer is still under warranty, you should bring it back to where you purchased it from and request the vendor to provide you with a RAM upgrade at a fee. Otherwise, you can
purchase a memory module and install the RAM yourself. Information pertaining to memory upgrades can often be found relatively easily over the internet. Ideally, I would suggest 1gb of RAM if you are running Windows XP and 2gb if you are running Windows Vista. In any case, the returns are instant and you would enjoy a noticeable increase in computer processing speeds.

Software wise, it would be a good idea to clean up your computer registry using a registry cleaner. Preference and setting files are stored by Windows for all software and hardware installed into a computer. When a software or hardware is uninstalled, these preference and setting files are not removed. Over time, these would cause a build up, slowing down your computer. High quality registry repair software scans your computer registry for such files. These are then listed and can be deleted easily. The end result would be appreciably faster processing speeds for your computer.

In addition, it would also be a good idea to invest in a good anti-virus and spyware remover program. It is common to find viruses and spywares embedded into websites these days. These have the purpose to track your surfing activities and run in the background without you knowing, slowing the speed of your computer. Good anti-virus or spyware remover program weeds out viruses and spywares, allowing your computer to function at a much faster speed. Subsequently, it blocks out any future invasions of such malicious software into your computer system.

Fix Windows 7 Freezing Issues At Startup

Have you felt some problems while using the new Windows 7 operating system. Though it is the latest Microsoft’s release. But as it is coming in notice that Windows 7 still has some bugs that needs to be resolved. As a whole the operating systems is showing great response but still the freezing issues in Windows 7 needs to be sorted out. As the freezing may cause you loose some very important data that you are working on. The main reason for your system suffering from this problem is that your system doesnot fulfill the minimum hardware requirement specification. As a result of you ae working on a a number of programs and applications, your RAM will not handle this and will result in freezing. Get a new 2 GB RAM for this situation or get an extra RAM.

Few days ago one Pal of mine came to me and told me that he is having this Windows 7 freezing problem. He was not sure whether this is due to some specific program running at that time on the computer or is it due to any bug of Windows 7. I gave him a few suggestions like updating his drivers installed on the computer, to checking the RAM in the computer – that is should be of 2 GB, and suggested him to visit the Microsoft’s website for any new update and solution on this freezing problem.

There is nothing worse than a Blue PC screen at startup time. Panic sets in, and within a few minutes of trying to problem solve, most of us are gibbering wrecks of anxiety and frustration. There are a number of reasons why a computer can freeze at startup. Viral infections are an obvious problem, and probably the most commonly attributed cause of PC issues. Also blamed are the wickedly designed Trojan ware and spyware programs which many of us are downloading without being aware of it until it is too late.

Another startup killer is an overloaded system - typical of the Windows7 upgrade with all its extra features - where excessive programs are booted when the red button is thrown. Caching, paging and disc errors are often the result as program loadings compete for limited space in the system. The result? Slow, sluggish, unresponsive personal computers that make us wonder why we bought them in the first place! Reducing the number of programs in the startup folder can help, especially with Windows7.

Other problems include internal incompatibility - when the drivers of the hardware in your system are not compatible with the new operating system. Updating the drivers to the latest levels sometimes helps.

If you have done all this and you are still getting the blue screen, then it is time to look deeper into the system and see what else may be wrong. One sensitive area, and one which is often ignored until the last moment is an overloaded, clogged Windows registry - the place that Windows uses to keep a track of all the files, programs in your system.

Cleaning the registry out occasionally, and maintaining it for obsolete files and errors will aid your computer, making it start up more quickly and run more efficiently, as well as making it much more stable, as often the errors in Windows are caused by errors in the registry.
During upgrading, the registry is particularly vulnerable to errors, and should be cared for just like the drivers you have recently updated. One of the best ways to maintain your registry is to use a free repair tool like Pc Doc Pro. We recommend this tool, and you may be pleasantly surprised by the results!

Popular Computer Operating Systems

Linux, Windows, Sun Solaris and Macintosh are some of the popular computer operating systems. But do you know who have designed their own operating system and use it on their local machines? So, what is all this fuss about computer operating systems and how to decide which one to use? Before we start taking about operating systems for computers, let us try to understand, what a computer operating system is.

A computer operating system is nothing but system software because of which the software and hardware in a computer can communicate with each other. In short, it is what takes life to a computer. Simply it is the computer operating system, on which you run all your applications. If you want to run certain software in your computer, it needs to be compatible with the operating system that is running in your computer. So much for the purpose of creating you aware of what is a computer operating system. Now that you have some good idea about what is a computer operating system, let us try to understand, how different types of operating systems can be used.

Types of Computer Operating System

Computer operating systems can be broadly classified into many categories. One thing kept in mind is that one particular operating system can fall into more than one category. The classification is based on the features that operating systems have.

Multithreading Operating Systems
These are the operating systems that allow to use different types of the same software to run at the same time. Operating systems like Windows XP, 9X, ME, Vista, windows 7 and Linux are examples of this type of operating system.

Multitasking Operating System
If your computer operating system allows you to run more than one application software at the same time, than it can be classified into Multitasking operating system. The same operating systems that have been mentioned above can be classified as examples of this type of operating system.

GUI Operating System
GUI means graphical user interface. This type of operating systems like Windows 98, XP, ME, Vista, 7 and Linux, which allow users to navigate graphic representation of every process or application are classified into this type of operating system.

CUI Operating System
This type of the computer operating systems, where you need to learn the commands for working with that particular operating system . I was very excited with the innovative Windows 7 features like HomeGroup feature, because I have two desktop computers at home, one in my personal room and the other in my office, which is attached with my house and mostly I have to shuffle among both to take out important data related with my personal and business usage.

But it was hard to decide on the compatibility factor of both computers. I went through a lot of research regarding technical support on Google. I was very much messed up. Fortunately I came to know about Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor on Microsoft’s site. I downloaded the program and installed it over both the computers. Next, I connected the printer too with one of my PC. Afterwards I executed the program. This program took hardly 10 minutes to generate a report. I followed the report and did the important modification in the memory and processor part. I upgraded the RAM (Random Access Memory) to 2 GB and replaced the hard disk with a 20 GB HDD. Next I upgraded the processor with 1 gigahertz (GHz) 32-bit (x86) and the memory of graphic card to DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0.

The term and condition was fulfilled for Windows 7 installation and I installed it with a USB flash drive. But post installation scenarios would not have been so smooth but for an authentic tech support from a remote service provider. I took remote technical support sessions of my computers to install the latest device driver and setup and configure my HomeGroup.

Now I can share the data over both my computers along with the printers. I don’t have to shuffle from one PC to another. With the inbuilt Parent Control feature of it, I can restrict my sensitive data from the reach of my kids.

Limitation

There can be certain limitation in the performance of your computer if your memory is not well compatible with the type of applications running in your PC. In addition you can’t expect complete Aero feature on your desktop’s if your graphic card is not compatible.

Streamline Dell Computer’s Performance with Authentic Tech Support

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 160px; height: 120px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_s4xFPqCbM5E/S6B7uCqHESI/AAAAAAAAAnk/RpBXgtbARX8/s200/windows+7+security.aspx.jpeg" border="0" alt="windows 7 security"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5449491580035993890" />
Feature
Last week I decided to upgrade my laptop form Windows 7 Vista Pro to Windows 7 Professional, which I did with the help of an USB flash drive. I copied the installation image from MS site and installed it over my laptop. But I was facing issues regarding a valid product activation key. I ignored that and completed the task with a mindset of short-term usage. Next, I installed various device drivers and other important applications.
Next day, when I restarted my laptop to perform a printing task I got an error “Printer could not be found”. I did everything to the best of my knowledge, but all in vain.
I then navigated to the Google search and came across iYogi’s name. As soon as went deep and I completed the article, I was not able to stop myself and I called on the number. There was a good and interactive session with a Microsoft Certified technicians and he took the remote control over my laptop and accomplished the installation of operating system followed by configuration of my printer. Everything was done in a smart way to bring the printer in a smooth working condition.
It was a nice and innovative experience of a remote tech support. I have confirmed about the complete tech support services available for my Dell computer, which includes support for installation and upgrade of OS and other applications, driver update, setup and configuration of peripheral devices like printers and scanners and respective troubleshooting.
Usability
Hence, simplify your computing life by getting registered with a recognized tech support provider for your Dell computer. You can avail tech support service for your Dell computer anytime and from any location, because of its remote nature and 24/7 availability. You have the privilege of getting your Dell computer’s issue addressed with Microsoft certified technicians. Apart from diagnosing the particular issue they take adequate measures to enhance performance of your Dell computer by cleaning its memory and optimizing its registry.
Limitation
There are some tech support providers, which deliver on-site support services to resolve your Dell computer’s issues, but a risk factor is always associated with these types of services, because you are not aware about skill credential of the technicians and moreover they don’t offer you any service level guarantee.
So give preference to a remote support provider, where you can get support from experienced and Microsoft certified technicians only.
However, overall performance of your Dell computer is restricted by the hardware configuration too, so you can’t blame your operating system or the remote tech support provider every time.

Windows 7’s Tech Support Performance

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 131px; height: 160px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_s4xFPqCbM5E/S53e8ZoNeVI/AAAAAAAAAlM/Q9lGNP3hXFI/s200/Windows+7+Xp-Support.aspx.jpeg" border="0" alt="windows 7 xp support"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5448756253441227090" />
Microsoft has pampered Windows 7 with performance accelerator features, which has raised its popularity amongst various segments of the users. . Each and every feature of this operating system is innovative and user-friendly.

Understanding the craze of people regarding latest operating system, MS has given streamlined method to upgrade or install it.

However due to some software and hardware conflicts, product activation and driver issue you may face some initial problems with it. But never mind because you are not alone at any point. Several leading tech support units are working to simplify your job. Some are offering onsite support while others are offering online support. But you should be little bit careful while choosing for the best Windows 7 tech support unit. I recommend online tech support, which has significant advantages over the other form of tech support.
Features
Online Windows 7 tech support unit has its own attributes; it is offering you a service, which you can access while sitting at your home or office. Next, its services are empowered with Microsoft certified technicians and are accompanied with a service level agreement, which is the most important thing due to overgrowing fraud practices. In addition, it offers a round the clock protection from any unfortunate computer crash or data loss. It also monitors your PC regularly to keep it free from any kind of Internet related threat, such as viruses, spyware and malware.
Usability

As per me, it is better to register with a recognized Windows 7 tech support provider for getting a smooth performance out of your computer throughout the time. I have got the extreme benefit with the remote tech support for my laptop. Now, when I am in any trouble I call it, irrespective of day or night. There are expert technicians to fix the issue in no time. I am getting regular PC health check up for my laptop, after which I am experiencing a considerable improvement in my laptop’s performance.
Limitation
The only problem, which I have faced though very occasionally, is waiting time on call. But it’s not a big issue, over and all it’s much convenient than waiting for days and weeks at any repair shop.

Windows 7 Computer Support

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 160px; height: 112px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_s4xFPqCbM5E/S5oh8kmq02I/AAAAAAAAAjU/9oL2Ic3nIFw/s200/windows+7+usb+drive.aspx.jpeg" border="0" alt="windows 7 usb drive"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5447704023759770466" />
Windows 7 is the latest version of operating system designed by Microsoft. It has some special features, such as advanced in touch and handwriting recognition, support for virtual hard disks, improved performance on multi-core processors, improved boot performance, direct Access and kernel improvements. During the installation of Windows 7 I got stuck in between the installation process. I tried to resolve it on my own but I find myself incapable of it. As I was very much irritated, one of my friends suggested me to go for technical support firms, which provide dedicated technical assistance for issues related to Windows 7.

While searching through the internet, I came across several technical support organizations, which offer a wide range of services for the issues related to Windows 7. Their technical experts not only helped me to install Windows 7 as well as solved issues related to compatibility. Apart from this, they provide comprehensive PC Support for several problems, such as Windows 7 freeze, hardware compatibility issue, product activation, migration to Windows 7 and software compatibility issues. And yet, as is often the case, the choice is not as easy as it looks because once you plan to switch to Windows 7, you will also have to determine the best place to get Windows 7 & an edition that will suit your needs.
Windows 7 Editions
There are six editions of Windows 7 available in the market – Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate. Now choosing the appropriate edition out of these six may be a huge task but in reality, you’ll have only three Windows 7 editions to choose from. So your choice is therefore simplified to the left three editions: Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate.
The numerous versions of Windows 7 are built such that each edition has all the functionalities of the previous editions plus other extra features, which make that edition unique. Also, you can use the Anytime Upgrade tool to buy a product key online and upgrade your existing Windows 7 license to a better edition. For example, if you wish to buy Windows 7 Home Premium, you can use Anytime Upgrade and move to Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate version anytime.
In my opinion, if you use your system mostly at home and for entertainment purpose, Windows 7 Home Premium is a great option. Or if you plan to run it on your office PC, Windows 7 Professional is a good choice. If you want a complete package, buy Windows 7 Ultimate.
How to Get Windows 7?
If you’re planning to get Windows 7 for your own PC, I would recommend you order or download it today from Microsoft official website: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/faq.aspx. When you buy Windows 7, you will have two options for instance, the upgrade and full version. Both comprise the same features. If you have Windows XP or Windows Vista running your PC, go for the upgrade version. If you don't, you'll need to get the full version.

Sure-shot Way of Windows 7 Installation

Microsoft’s latest Windows 7 has removed the issues of software confliction and difficult user-interface of previous Windows Vista. In addition to that it has been equipped with innovative technologies like multi-core support, handwriting recognition, virtualization and Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), so that you can experience the next-generation computing features.
Hence, demands of installation/upgrade to latest Windows 7 is on the rise. However, it is always important to prepare yourself before rushing for the upgrade. You should check whether your computer’s configuration will support Windows 7.
If your present operating system is Windows Vista, then you don’t need to think much. Simply go online or purchase CD/DVD of Windows 7 installation.
However, if you have a computer with earlier versions like Windows XP, Windows 2000 etc, then you need to be careful
Firstly, check the compatibility of hardware components in your computer with respect to that of Windows 7. You can easily check it with the help of Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, which is available for free download in Microsoft’s website. It scans and prompts the report. If your computer is lacking somewhere, it suggests the upgrade requirement.
Following are the minimum hardware configuration to install Windows 7:
• Processor-1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
• Memory-1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
• Hard disk-16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
• Graphic card-DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Take the backup of previous files and settings of your computer. You can make use of external hard disk or USB flash drive to take the back up. If you are not an computer expert, then don’t worry. Microsoft presents Windows 7 Easy Transfer that can be downloaded from its website. This program can take back up of your entire computer’s storage, in few minutes in an easy way.
Now, start the process of Windows 7 installation. Drop the CD/DVD on the tray of your DVD drive and restart your computer. You will be prompted to “Press any key to boot from CD/DVD.” However, if you don’t get this option, go into the BIOS and change the boot order from hard drive to DVD drive. After the file is loaded, installation wizard appears. Mention your language preferences, and then click “Install Now.” You have to accept the license agreement and select to do a custom install. Enter username and computer name, when the installation is over.

New Windows 7-Inspiration For Better Computing

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 160px; height: 90px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_s4xFPqCbM5E/S5DxpR8JiqI/AAAAAAAAAe8/4hKkO4ctCPU/s200/windows+7+tips.aspx.jpeg" border="0" alt="windows-7-tips"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5445117640983546530" />
New Windows 7 is available in the market in various editions, namely as, Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home, Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate. The individual components can be modified and the modified theme can be applied and shared among family and friends.

In a nutshell, there are several other features of Windows 7 which gives a personal touch to the user’s desktop.

Speed up windows 7 boot

Are you wondering how to speed up Windows 7 without having to spend money? Even though, Windows 7 is a light version that runs quickly but still some people have complaint that the Operating System is not performing well on their system. If you want to speed up the Operating System, go through the article, it might help.

windows 7 speed tweaks
The official launch Windows 7 is just round the corner. Presently, people have got the taste of Windows 7 through the Release Candidate (RC) version. Many people have tried and tested this version. Features like touch screen technology, improved taskbar, Jumplists, Bitlocker makes it an attractive deal for thousands. But there are a lot of things that needs to be taken care of before updating your system to Windows 7. First of all one must confirm that his system meets the minimum requirements:

• 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
• 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
• 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
• DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

If your computer meets all the above mentioned requirements, and is still running slow with this OS; then the problem lies elsewhere. Usually, if you have been running Windows Vista or XP on the same system then there is hardly any reason for Windows 7 to give any kind of trouble. Although some people running millennium edition of Windows face problem in upgrading the system to Windows 7.

You can start by checking the number of programs that are automatically running in the background as Windows 7 starts itself. Large number of programs running considerably slows down your computer. Simply click Start, then Run and then type "msconfig". Press enter. A list of startup programs will appear before you. Remove those unwanted programs that you do not wish to run on startup.

windows 7 registry speed
If it does not help, another thing that you can do to solve the Windows 7 slow down problem is to clean up the windows registry. This is one of the most effective ways to increase the speed of computer. Many registry cleaners are available for Windows 7 on the internet, you can buy one.

Now despite of trying each of the steps given above, if your system speed does not improve, you must take external help from a technician or take services from an online computer support company.

Group Account in Windows 7

Groups are also provided by Windows 7 which allows you to give a user access to many work related resources simply by making the user a member of group. It is possible to log on to a computer with a user account but it does not allows you to log on with a group account. Different Active Directory domains or local computers can have the same group name therefore groups are addressed by Domain\GroupName or Computer\GroupName.

Three types of group used by Windows 7:

Local Group : Local group can be created with Local Users And Groups. It is defined on a local computer and you can use it on a local computer only.

Security Group : You can associate security descriptors with it.

Distribution Group : It use an e-mail distribution lists. Security descriptors can't be associated with them. Distribution group is defined in domains using Active Directory Users and computers.

You can track group accounts as with users account using unequalled SIDs. This mean that a group account can not be deleted and recreated. If you create a new group you will have a new SID and all the permissions and advantages of the old group would be lost.

If you assign user access levels, you can make a user a member of the following groups:

1 Administrator : Local administrators are the members of this group and they have the full access to the workstation. Accounts can be created by them, they can modify group membership, install printers, and shared resources can be managed by them.

2 Backup Operators : Files can be restored and back up with the members of this group. They can log on to the local computer and computer can be easily shut down. Additionally, regardless of the account how it is set up, the members can back up files whether the members have read/write access to the files. But the access permissions on the files can not be changed by them and they can not even perform administrative tasks.

3 Cryptographic Operators : These members are allowed to manage the configuration of encryption, IP Security, digital IDs, and certificates.

4 Event Log Readers : Event Log can be viewed on the computer by these members.

5 Guests : They are provided very limited privileges. The system and the resources can be accessed by these members.

6 Network Configuration Operators : Network settings on the workstation can be managed by these members. TCP/IP settings can be configured by them and they can perform other general configuration tasks.

7 Performance Log users : Counters can be managed and viewed by them. They can also manage performance logging.

8 Performance Monitor Users : Performance counters and performance log can be viewed by its members.

9 Power Users : This feature has been changed in Windows 7. Though in earlier version, this group is used to grant additional advantages but in Windows 7, this is being maintained only for compatibility with legacy applications.

10 Remote Desktop Users : Using terminal services and remote desktop, the members can log on to the workstation.

11 Replicator : The replication of files for the local machines can be managed by it's members.

12 Users : User group members have limited advantages. They can locally log on to Windows 7 workstation.

See also
windows 7 password reset

How to Run XP compatible programs in Windows 7 machine

Windows 7 supports virtualization, so you can run Windows-XP-compatible applications on the new OS. XP mode will allow you to run your existing applications on Windows 7 system.

Windows XP Mode is an add-on for Windows 7 Professional and higher that comes in two parts, each of which has its own setup. The first is Windows Virtual PC, a new version of Microsoft’s free desktop virtualization platform, and the second is Virtual Windows XP itself, which is a virtual hard drive pre-loaded and licensed with Windows XP Service Pack 3. XP Mode will be available to Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate users.

Things to consider while enabling Windows 7 XP Mode.
1. Next, you’ll need to install two software packages on your PC:
● Install the Windows Virtual PC , which is the virtualization software that powers “XP Mode”.
● Install the Windows XP Mode, which is a specially crafted XP virtual machine.
4. Once you’ve completed those steps and restarted your computer, run the Virtual Windows XP item in the start menu, add in a password and make sure to choose to remember the credentials if you want the integration features to work smoothly.
5. Once the wizard is complete, you will see a dialog that sets up XP for use.
6. Install your applications in Windows XP.
7. Once your applications are installed and shortcuts are in the All Users start menu, they will show up in the Windows 7 start menu under the Windows Virtual PC -> Virtual Windows XP Applications folder.

Running Windows XP Mode:
TO START THE VIRTUALIZED WINDOWS XP ENVIRONMENT, OPEN THE START MENU, CLICK ALL PRO-GRAMS, THEN CLICK THE WINDOWS VIRTUAL PC FOLDER THERE YOU’LL FIND A SHORTCUT FOR WINDOWS XP MODE. THIS ACTION LAUNCHES WINDOWS VIRTUAL PC, WHICH IN TURN HOSTS WINDOWS XP MODE

To turn the full screen over to the virtual environment and remove its own window frame, either maximize it or open the Action menu and choose View Full Screen In full-screen mode, the menu bar at the top of the Windows XP Mode window appears, in slightly modified form, as a toolbar on the desktop Click the Restore button on this toolbar to return to windows display. The purpose of UAC is to enable you to log on and operate the computer with a more secure standard user account. When you want to perform an operation that could arise a security risk on your windows 7 professional , UAC requires that you enter an administrator account password before it proceeds. This system offers a greatly increased level of security, especially to computers that are not protected as part of a network domain.

In Windows 7 when UAC is enable, as it is by default, clicking a command that requires administrator approval at that UAC security level opens the User Account Control message box. When you’re logged on as an administrator, Windows requests only that you acknowledge the security prompt; you don’t need to enter your password.

To continue with the restricted operation: If you’re logged on as a standard user, click one of the administrator accounts, enter password, and then click Yes. If you’re logged on as an administrator, click on Yes.

User Account Control message box appears only when a application tries to make changes to your Windows 7 computer, and not when you make changes to Windows settings, as you will be doing when working through the exercises. If User Account Control is set to Always Notify and a User Account Control message box appears, you will need to provide the requested credentials or acknowledgment.

Ready to upgrade to Windows 7? A new PC comes with the configuration to accommodate the new version of Windows. However, the people who look forward to upgrade their existing PC, are often face the questions of whether their PC will be able to run the new version of Windows or not?

As we all know, that Microsoft has announced its latest version of Windows i.e. Windows 7 last month. Due to the advanced features offered by Windows 7 many of us are looking forward to upgrade our PC to Windows 7 and are facing the same questions as above. To help people get answers to their question Microsoft has announced a tool named as Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor which can help us determine if a given PC is able to run on Windows 7.

Windows 7 upgrade advisor is now available and will help people get prepared for a Windows 7 upgrade by analyzing their PC and determining its suitability for the upgrade. Windows 7 upgrade advisor tool can be downloaded for free from Microsoft’s Website. It examines a PC processor, graphics capabilities, storage, and memory and identifies the compatibility issues with various installed software and present devices. It can also provide you guidance to resolve any existing issues if possible to do that. The important point to note here is that only PCs with Windows vista installed in them can upgrade directly to Windows 7. However, those with Windows XP are required to do a clean install of Windows 7 operating system.

Before you run Windows 7 upgrade advisor on your PC, make sure that you plug in all the external devices and USB devices including printers, scanners, external HDD or any other external devices which are used with your PC. Windows 7 upgrade advisor is an amazing tool which is easy to use and help determine any PC users about the capabilities of his PC to install and run windows 7.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://windows-7-dll.blogspot.com/2009/11/ready-to-upgrade-to-windows-7-run.html' title='Ready to upgrade to Windows 7? After looking at the code in question, we are now able to confirm this was infact the case, although it was not intentional on our part. While it had got with a third party to build the tool, it takes obligation as it did not catch it as part of our code recap process.

As a result, Microsoft said it will make usable next week the source code for the tool as well as the binaries under the terms of the General Public License. Microsoft will also make the tool again present for the customers at the Microsoft store. Microsoft had pulled the software usefulness down earlier this week after that the tool showed to use code from the open source ImageMaster project.

Though somewhat arcane, the Windows USB/DVD Tool was Microsoft’s answer to a tough problem, advancing the operating system on netbooks and other PCs without an optical drive. Microsoft had been exploring for months different path to solve the issue, eventually settling on this software program, launched last month, which permits users take a downloadable copy of the operating system and build a bootable drive. Releasing software under an open-source license is not totally new to Microsoft, although Microsoft typically doesn’t do so under the GPL, which it sees as one of the more restrictive of the open-source licenses.

The software maker did launch a few Linux drivers under GPLv2, while it may have had its hand forced there as well. Some have suggested the drivers comprises of GPL code, meaning that their needs would had to be launched back under the same GPL license. Microsoft has sustained that it used GPL-licensed code in its Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool without restriction.

The organization pulled the tool from its servers when allegations that the code was covered under GNU General Public License, a popular open source license which permits developers to re-use the code as long as the new or modified code is also launched under the same terms, when poking around the tool was done. It was claimed that the tool obviously lifted code from the GPL v2-licensed ImageMaster project.

In another development, Solicited RA using file transfer in new Windows 7 professional - This method needs that both the User and Helper have access to a common folder, or that they use some other method for shifting the file. The user builds an RA invitation file and saves it in the shared folder. The User must give a password that must be communicated to the Helper using an out-of-band (OOB) method such as a telephone call in new Windows 7. The Helper recovers the ticket from the shared folder, opens it, enters the password and the RA session starts. Again, the Helper must reply to the invitation within a fixed time, or the invitation will expire and a new one will be required.

Microsoft supports open-source code in Windows 7 service program

Microsoft confirmed on Nov. 13 that the application software used to install new Windows 7 unwittingly contained open-source GNU code. Microsoft’s Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool helps the creation of a Windows 7 ISO image that can be saved on bootable USB or DVD media. It’s particularly helpful for windows 7 installation on netbooks, which typically miss CD or DVD drives. The tool uses General Public License Version 2 (GPLv2) code. After looking at the code in question, it is now affirmed this was indeed the case, although it was not knowing on Microsoft part.

It was said that a third party had germinated the tool, and Microsoft had neglected to analyze the GPLv2 code when reviewing the project. The tool seems to have been erased from the Microsoft Store, though at press time, CNet’s Download.com Web site still provide it as a free download. Windows blogger was the first to note that the tool’s code had been elevated from the ImageMaster project on Microsoft’s open-source CodePlex site. The project has since been erased from the site. However, rather than rejecting the tool’s code, Microsoft plans to make it publicly available in accordance the GPLv2 license. Users of GPL code are free to change it for their purposes but then must share the altered code.

In another development, when a peer wants to solve the name of another peer that is the directed peer to its published address and port number, it performs these steps: The issuing peer first looks up its own PNRP cache for this information. If it finds this information, it sends a PNRP Request message to the aimed peer and waits for the reply. These Request messages serve the purpose of enabling peers to communicate to other peers their active interest within the cloud. If the issuing peer does not determine this information, it sends the Request message to the peer whose ID most closely matches is closest numerically to that of the aimed peer. The peer that encounters this message then consults its own cache. If it finds a closer match or the match itself, it gives this information to the requesting peer. The requesting peer then goes to the returned peer and the process extends until the resolution succeeds or fails.

If the peer that receives this message does not find closer information in its cache, it gives the message to the issuing peer, showing that it does not know the targeted peer. The issuing peer then repeats the previous step by sending a message to the peer whose ID next most closely checks that of the targeted peer. This process extends until the targeted peer is found or not found and is no longer exhibit within the cloud. Looping is avoided by including in the Request message the list of peers that have already forwarded requests.

In another scenario, Solicited RA using Instant Messaging - This way for soliciting assistance needs that the instant messaging applications being used by both the User and the Helper support the new Microsoft Rendezvous application programming interface. An example of an Instant Messaging application that supports the Rendezvous API is Windows Live Messenger, which is available for download as part of the Windows Live Essentials a feature of latest Windows 7, which is a bundle of applications. In this approach, the User requests assistance from someone on his buddy list. To ensure that the remote person is really the User’s buddy, Remote Assistance needs that a password be controlled from the User to the Helper by other means before the Helper can link.

Windows 7 Not Recognizing DVD Drive

1. Hence, you don’t have to suffer calling again and again.
The beauty of this windows 7 feature is when any application starts misbehaving under Windows 7 then all your friends need do is click Start, type PSR and press Enter, then click Start Record. If they work through whatever they are doing then the PSR will record every click and keypress, take screen grabs, and accommodate everything up into a single zipped HTML file when they’re finished. After completing all this process it will be ready for emailing to you.

PSR (Problem Steps Recorder), can be start by a regular user or by an administrator.

1. User can record a series of actions performed on a computer.
2. Document those actions, in the order that they were performed using text and screen captures at the moment that the action was performed.
3. This documentation will include where the user clicked on each option on the screen.
4. The documentation won’t include anything that the end user typed for privacy reasons.
5. PSR will allow the user running it to create “Comments” throughout the process.
6. The PSR report will show the version of the operating system and even the URLs of any web pages that the user was accessing during the process.

In order to solve a network problem follow the given instructions:

● At First, start PSR by going to Start and type psr in the search box. Press Enter.
● When PSR comes up, press Start Record or use Alt-A.
● Now, perform your process. For instance, you can perform a number of steps.
● Do not forget to enter comments during your process to make your documentation even better. When you enter comments, you will be prompted to mark an area of the screen that will be added to the PSR report.
● When you are done with the process you want to document / record, press Stop Record and you will be prompted for the name to give your report.
● Now you are ready to view your report .
Note: In this article, we covered the new Windows 7 “Problem Steps Recorder”, how to use it, and how it can save you, as a Windows Administrator, so much time. Because the “PSR” is able to quickly and easily document any problem in Windows 7, step by step, in written form, it is a great way to document any series of steps on your computer or an end user’s computer.

Windows 7 Guide- Changes To Security in Windows 7

Microsoft launched Windows 7 with few enhancements such as HomeGroup, Aero, etc. However, there are several of new and enhanced security features as well. Here’s a rundown of key changes you must know about.

Everyone’s talking about the interface changes, the new taskbar, omission of the sidebar, a new look for Windows Explorer. Under the hood, there are few more changes, including latest and enhanced security features. Let’s look at some security features that have been changed or added in Windows 7.
Action Center- In Vista, security configurations can be access from the Security Center in Control Panel. In Windows 7, you won’t find a Security Center. That’s because it’s been replaced by a new Action Center. The Action Center offers security configurations as well as options for other administrative tasks, such as Backup, Troubleshooting And Diagnostics, and Windows Update.

Windows 7 UAC- User Account Control (UAC) was introduced with Vista, made to provide better protection from malware. It makes all user accounts run as standard users, even administrator accounts. If you need to perform something that requires administrative rights, it asks for permission. And asks. And asks. This in-your-face aspect of UAC has caused numerous complaints and has led some users to turn it off completely, thus exposing themselves to threats.
In Windows 7, UAC is still there, but now you can set up how vocal it will be. There are four settings you configure from the UAC settings in the Action Center. You can set UAC to:
• Always notify you when you install software or make any changes to Windows settings (as Vista does now).

• Notify you when programs make changes but not if you make changes to Windows settings (default Setting).

• Notify you only when programs make changes but turn off Secure Desktop, which dims the desktop while the UAC prompt is displayed. ( Preferred setting.)

• Never notify you. ( Not recommended.)
BitLocker- Windows 7 comes through and allows you to encrypt removable storage drives. And it’s easy to do. Just open the BitLocker applet in Control Panel, choose the drive you want to encrypt, and click Turn On BitLocker.

Windows Filtering Platform- Windows Filtering Platform (WFP) is a set of APIs introduced in Vista. In Windows 7, developers can use it to iinclude some parts of the Windows Firewall into their own programs. This will allow a third-party program to turn off certain parts of the Windows Firewall selectively if need be.

DNSSec- Windows 7 supports for DNSSec (Domain Name System Security), which is a group of extensions to the DNS platform that improved security. With DNSSec, a DNS zone can take advantage of digital signature technology so that you can validate the authenticity of data that’s received.

Best Free Antivirus and Antispyware for Windows 7

Now that Windows 7 has been launched for all the Windows users worldwide. The Remote Assistance exception properties can be changed depending on the network location of the computer (private, public, or domain). The windows 7 default Remote Assistance is disabled in a public location and is stricter when the computer is in a private location. For example, in an airport, the Remote Assistance is disabled by default.

Remote Assistance default configuration in Windows Firewall varies depending on the firewall settings and profile:

• Private profile:

When the computer location is set to Private, the Remote Assistance exception in the Windows Firewall is enabled by default. For the users in a private networking environment who can solicit help from other users, it is configured for NAT traversal using Teredo by default. The private profile also includes the exact exceptions that are needed to allow communication with uPnP NAT devices. Remote Assistance will attempt to use the uPnP for NAT traversal if a uPnP NAT is in this environment.

• Public profile:

No inbound Remote Assistance traffic is permitted in this profile and the Remote Assistance exception is disabled by default. In this way Windows Firewall is configured by default to better protect users in a public networking environment . NAT traversal using Teredo is enabled when the Remote Assistance exception is enabled.

• Domain Profile:

In this profile, the Remote Assistance domain exception is geared toward the Offer Remote Assistance scenario when the computer is in a domain environment. In Windows 7, this exception is enabled by default and is managed via Group Policy. Corporate networks typically have a corporate firewall that blocks Teredo UDP traffic. In that case first install the Windows with 2 GB RAM and add rest of the RAM after complete installation. It is possible that your motherboard may not support this much RAM than you need to update your motherboard.
* You must take a backup of all important data and device drivers before a clean install.
* Before a clean install, download and save all of your device drivers to DVD, or some other media, to have them handy to make setting Windows 7 up easier later. Sometimes using the Vista drivers in Windows 7, you will need to use Compatibility Mode on the driver for it to install.

Windows 7 Minimum Hardware Requirements:

* 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
* 1 GB RAM for 32-bit Windows 7 OR 2 GB RAM for 64-bit Windows 7
* 16 GB available disk space 32-bit Windows 7 OR 20 GB for 64-bit Windows 7
* Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128 MB memory (in order to enable Aero theme)
* DVD-R/W Drive
Internet or phone access to activate Windows 7.

Uninstall Nero 9 trial version

Download Nero General CleanTool and remove the conflicting Nero entries which creates problem in uninstalling Nero 9 from your Windows 7 PC.

How to uninstall Nero trial 9 completely from your Windows 7 PC?

Nero 9 sometimes creates problem in uninstalling completely from your Windows 7 PC. Applications can be started from a Windows XP desktop or directly from the Windows 7 Start menu or taskbar.

Microsoft says XP Mode has now reached Release to Manufacturing (RTM) status, and will be ready for launch alongside the full operating system on 22 October. PC manufacturers will also be free to install XP Mode on systems before they're shipped.
XP Mode has sparked some controversy, because of its reliance on virtualisation technology within the processor. It will only run on CPUs with either Intel's Virtualization Technology or AMD-V, potentially forcing some businesses to upgrade their hardware if they wish to take advantage of XP Mode.

Consumers will also have to pay extra if they want to get their hands on Windows 7 XP Mode, as it will only work with the Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Windows 7.

Who's Watching Windows 7?

A lot of people, including myself, are eagerly waiting Oct. 22, the day Microsoft released its new operating system, Windows 7. As the manufacturer, Microsoft is obviously the most affected, but not the only ones who have an interest in seeing that it is launching a successful product.

Based on the last of their earnings, operating systems are very important to Microsoft (MSFT - news - people). Reports indicate that the client systems, which represent all the different PC operating systems, representing approximately 25% of Microsoft's revenue, but about 54% of their income. Microsoft notes that "revenue from Windows operating systems declined reflecting the weakness of the PC market, especially on computers sold to businesses, and a decrease in the mix of premium OEM.

What Microsoft is not disputed is the general misperception of the Windows Vista operating system on the market and the impact it may have had on their finances. Many companies have opted to skip Vista and have been holding on Windows XP as the standard in anticipation of Windows 7 as a viable alternative.

The weak economy has obviously been an important factor both in consumer and business to delay the replacement of aging equipment. The desire of these same groups to ensure that Vista makes the decision to delay a little easier.

Computer manufacturers have Windows 7 and potentially an economic rebound to pull them out of the doldrums. If consumers and businesses, as Windows 7, which should result in an increase in PC sales as people replace older equipment, in addition to updating the operating systems. My home PC is more than seven years of age and is much lower in terms of memory and storage. But I've been willing to tolerate the situation waiting for Windows 7. I bet I'm not alone in this.

Providers of third party software are also waiting for a successful launch. As sales of new vehicles to boost sales of third-party accessories and services, sales of new PC unit sales of new software as people want to take advantage of their new machines and new capabilities. I have some software still in its packaging waiting for a PC to put it.

Finally, corporate IT groups are rooting for a successful launch of Windows 7. Many corporate groups held both have to go to Vista and have jumped an annual PC refresh cycle. Buying companies will have to pick up soon, and these groups have Windows 7. Corporate buyers have been avoiding Vista as well as the deferral of expenses.

If Windows 7 does not work, corporate IT groups can expect to hear: "Well, what do we do now?" One can almost hear the collective gulp as IT reflects on this issue. The good news is that so far about Windows 7 reports have been favorable. Most people wait for Windows 7 to perform better than Vista and to be better accepted by users. There have been some reports of issues such as Windows 7 in slower start than the Vista that give rise to concern, but as they say in TV commercials, "results may vary.

The prospect of Windows 7 not be a success, it's scary. It is frightening for Microsoft, PC manufacturers, software companies and enterprise IT. It is to be successful since it is a good alternative. Sure, there are other operating systems like Linux. And, I dare say, that the exchange PC Macs. These alternatives could work in some situations, but really not practical for many corporate environments due to the cost of change and re-adjust the supporting infrastructure.

Fortunately, it appears that Microsoft would have gotten it right this time. But if they have, they need to make all the stops to get it right. Otherwise this could be the tipping point that causes many companies to start thinking about alternatives. The change would be costly and difficult, as I mentioned, but Microsoft would be making a big mistake to even give people an excuse to start thinking about that possibility.

Using Windows 7 Registry Cleaner Software

On 7 Windows operating system still uses the registration system in order to maintain the proper settings and preferences for the operating system itself and its different software programs.
